Recreation / Program Manager San Diego CA Location: San Diego, CA Personal Characteristics Must be a BornAgain Christian whose personal beliefs are parallel with the PVBCC statement of faith, and who will continually aspire to growth in faith, maturity, and selfless service as a reflection of the Person and character of Jesus Christ. Position requires a person who is committed to a service ministry and is willing to work unusual hours to fulfill the needs of guests and/or staff team. Personal priorities will reflect those of Jesus Christ, i.e. God People Task, in this order. This staff position is part of a community of coworkers and fellow believers who live on the conference grounds, requiring a deep commitment to the spiritual health and mission of the community. Candidate will be a trusted professional who will manage and execute missioncritical processes requiring high integrity, character, and sound personal judgment. Professional Characteristics Possess training and experience in service or ministry related work processes, with a strong ability to organize, prioritize, and mobilize people to complete tasks. Have a keen eye for details. Display a pleasant, hospitable, disarming disposition, a servants heart, and problemsolving skills. Be literate in MS Office Suite, computers, and networks. Capable of lifting 50lbs. Demonstrate creative thought leadership, a willingness to change, and an ongoing desire to improve personally, services, and processes. Be able to interact with group leaders on and off PVBCC grounds, representing PVBCC and the Lord Jesus Christ honorably. Have a warm, outgoing personality that is welcoming to guests, seeks interaction, and is visible and accessible during meal time. Be well organized, with work areas in visible condition and work anticipated and allocated among employees, leading to completion. Be an excellent planner and implementer who can originate an operations calendar, mobilize staff, and manage complex schedules involving multiple group events. Possess high collaborative skills with other professional ministry disciplines such as finance, program, and guest services. Be an excellent communicator and coordinator who can work successfully in a team environment. Have visionary and tactical qualities that enable you to see possibilities that align with the PVBCC Purpose and Mission, and map a path to convert possibilities to reality. To own and drive all key responsibilities and initiatives of the department, including establishing priorities, planning, setting calendars, schedules, timelines, deadlines, establishing processes, driving implementation, and coordinating with other leaders, staff, and departments. To lead, not just supervise employees, with a commitment to building an increasing level of competence and leadership in each individual and cultivating awareness of high standards. To maintain a personal work schedule that optimizes the role and is in the best interest of the ministry operation. To cooperate and coordinate as a team player, committed to a team effort that has impact beyond the department. To know the industry, draw upon best practices, and build from a constantly growing source of professional resources to stay on the cutting edge of service development. To be an excellent communicator, accessible to the PVBCC Operations Team, armed with a radio and cell phone to facilitate guest services and teamwork. To keep any credentials current. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee all PVBCC recreation needs, and/or assist in Programs as needed. Manage, train, and schedule the Recreation team which includes fulltime, parttime, and volunteer workforces. Manage inventories to protect assets and reduce costs. Serve as a Spiritual Leader to all Recreation/Program staff, making time to weave the Christian faith into the fabric of the operation. Follow a development plan for hourly and fulltime staff each year. Live the faith first, then teach the faith. Inspire employees to give their best efforts to the Glory of God. Establish high expectations that reflect the excellence of God. Build a culture of respect, teamwork, hard work, and kindness. Know and emphasize the importance of the Recreation Team to guest experience.
