Job Description

TheNorthwest Territories Legislative Assembly is one of the three distinct and autonomous branches of the Government of the Northwest Territories (Legislative, Executive and Judicial). As such, it operates with autonomy and independence from Cabinet direction and the public service at large. This independence is critical to the mandate of the Legislative Assembly to scrutinize and approve legislation and budgets proposed by cabinet, monitor and critique the activities and performance of the executive branch and provide a forum for the exercise of responsible parliamentary democracy in the Northwest Territories. Job Information The Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories (NWT) is seeking a skilled and adaptable Broadcasting Analyst to join the Office of the Clerk within the House, Procedures and Committees team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that Legislative Assembly proceedings are accurately recorded, interpreted, broadcast, and made accessible to Members, stakeholders, media, and the public across the Northwest Territories in all official languages. The Broadcasting Analyst provides technical expertise and leadership in the planning, operation, and enhancement of the Assemblys broadcasting and communications systems, supporting transparency, accountability, and public engagement within a responsible parliamentary democracy. Key Responsibilities The Broadcasting Analyst is responsible for: Planning, developing, installing, and maintaining the Legislative Assemblys communications and broadcasting systems, including IPbased broadcast networks; Procuring and administering specialized broadcasting, audio visual, network, and server infrastructure, including preparing technical specifications, terms of reference, and service contracts; Installing, configuring, and supporting servers, databases, networking, firewalls, remote access systems, video conferencing, and media storage solutions; Providing system administration, troubleshooting, and technical support to ensure reliable and secure operations; Overseeing contractors and service providers delivering sessional, committee, and event broadcasting services; Coordinating television and web broadcasting operations, satellite uplinks, interpretation systems, and internal cable distribution; Researching and implementing emerging broadcast, streaming, and media technologies to improve access and effectiveness; Producing, converting, and managing video and audio materials in accordance with established quality standards; Developing live broadcast graphics and supporting web and social media video initiatives in collaboration with Public Affairs and Communications; Working closely with Members of the Legislative Assembly, House and Journal Services, Hansard, interpreters, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and accurate broadcasts Key Qualifications Completion of a postsecondary diploma in broadcasting or a related discipline, along with two (2) years of experience working in broadcast facilities. Education and Experience to be considered A relevant degree with 1 year of experience working in broadcast facilities. High school Diploma and 4 years of experience working in broadcast facilities. Equivalent Education Media Production Technology (technical stream) (Diploma) Electronics & Communications Technology Communications Technology (Diploma) Telecommunications Technology (Diploma) Digital Media (Technical Focus) Experience working in a Broadcasting Facility includes Broadcast Technician or Broadcast Operator Technical Director Production Assistant with direct equipment operation #J-18808-Ljbffr
