Provides clinical education and training to staff, community caregivers and families in: appropriate communication techniques, recognition of referral needs, and providing assistance to those who have swallowing difficulties that require specialized food textures, implements, positioning or cuing during feeding. Participates in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards modeling and promoting a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to operational efficiency, professional and program development. Responsibilities Provide clinical assessment and treatment to adults with suspected communication impairments and swallowing disorders. Provide clinical education and training to staff, community caregivers and families in appropriate communication techniques and feeding support. Participate in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary activities to promote a safe, patient-centered environment and contribute to operational efficiency. Requirements Education and Experience: Masters degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology Current unrestricted registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario Experience with adult clients preferred Experience in communication disorders involving voice, congenital, acquired or progressive neurological disorders and swallowing Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare reports, interpret results in a manner that is clear and understandable and provide training and direction Excellent computer skills Commitment to instructing students and communication disorder assistants Good attendance and availability required #J-18808-Ljbffr
