Why a Great Opportunity Position Title: Director & Assistant Controller Reports To: VP Controller Location: Atlanta, Georgia Direct Reports: 2 (both Accounting Managers) Travel: Job Description The Director & Assistant Controller will provide high level support to the VP Controller as they manage the companys accounting and financial activities to include the accurate preparation of the companys financial statements, the month-end closing process, coordinating the annual financial audit, preparing key financial metrics, and mentoring staff. This role will have significant exposure to senior management. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and reports for annual, quarterly and periodic filing requirements, including financial statements Assist Controller in improving efficiency of the company-wide accounting / consolidation close process to ensure accurate accounting in an efficient and timely manner. Provide concise and effective communication of financial results in a timely manner including analysis and evaluation of the key financial metrics Supervise the daily accounting operations including A/R, A/P and cash management Support external audit requirements including preparation of audit schedules Assist in month end close processes and ensuring all timelines are met. Ensure that accounts are properly reconciled while highlighting and resolving inconsistencies or unusual transactions. Review preliminary and final monthly financial statements to ensure compliance of all accounting transactions under US GAAP standards Ensure the proper reconciliations are prepared for g/l accounts each month; review account detail for accuracy. Oversee treasury management functions. Assist in the annual operating budget and reforecast process. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Minimum 5-7 years of experience combination of public and private accounting ideally within the Retail or Restaurant industry CPA (Active) Required Obsessed with quality, accuracy, timeliness and consistency Deep experience with GAAP Accounting, month end closing processes, audits and ability to drive process improvements in closing efficiencies Ability to work well independently and with stakeholders Experience with Great Plains Accounting SoftwareStrong communication, influencing skills and leadership skills Project management skills, self-motivated and directed, take initiative to completion High energy team player, self-motivated, willing and able to work in a fast-paced high demand environment on multiple projects. High level of dependability, results oriented and sense of urgency Preferred MBA Preferred Public Accounting experience Treasury experience preferred Special Skills Required The successful candidate for this position will need unquestionable ethics, strong managerial, analytical and system skills, a partnership orientation for working with business colleagues and drive value creation. He/she must have very strong communication skills, an approachable personality, organized but able to function in an ambiguous and fast paced environment, manage multiple projects, change priorities when needed, and be action oriented. The successful candidate must have the ability to prioritize complex objectives, with decision criteria. He/she must be able to interact with all levels of management.
