Job Description Position Purpose Summary This position provides direct front line support to individuals in the Shelter Programs. Accountabilities Enforce rules and regulations of the Salvation Army Community Services Centre, MAT Program and Emergency Shelter. Maintain a sanitary environment as per the daily/weekly cleaning list and record completed duties. Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all individuals accessing services. Complete intake work (HIFIS documentation and statistical documentation). Ensure facility security and monitor individuals (health and bed checks). Serve meals following direction from the shelter kitchen. Follow all OHS and safe food handling guidelines as per Health Canada. Assist Protection Officers by monitoring guests for alcohol and checking for drugs and weapons. Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures as per the Salvation Army policies manual. Complete entries each shift in the communication log. Perform other duties as required. Critical Relationship Management Internal Maintain communications between individuals accessing services. Maintain communications between other Client Support Workers and Management. External Maintain communications between outside agencies such as Alberta Health Services when assistance is required for individuals. Financial And Materials Management Ensure all food and meals are handled properly under Alberta guidelines. Ensure all cleaning supplies are properly organized and labeled when the custodian is absent. Working Conditions Work environment is generally agreeable. The position requires moderate keyboarding and manual record keeping and may involve handling highly disturbing information; debrief and consultation will be required. Exposure to stressful situations, verbal abuse, work schedule affecting lifestyle, bodily fluids, bodily waste, drugs and alcohol. Little or no travel required. Education and Experience Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. First Aid/CPR certification. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Experience providing support to vulnerable individuals an asset. Kitchen experience/food handling certificate an asset. Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector check required upon hire. Skills and Capabilities Willingness to understand and support the mission and purpose of the Salvation Army. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Alberta health and safety policies. Computer skills an asset for mandatory online training. Caring, understanding and compassionate. Good interpersonal skills. Integrity, confidentiality and balanced fairness. Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Professional boundaries when working with a vulnerable population. This is a temporary six (6) month fixedterm employment contract. Scheduled hours: 40hours per week. Target hiring range min. $23.27 to mid. $29.09 and max. $34.90 per hour. Compensation The target hiring range will be based on market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
