Job Description

POSITION : Withdrawal Management Services Support Worker REPORT TO: Manager, Withdrawal Management Services DEPARTMENT : Withdrawal Management Services LOCATION : 146 Magnus Street, 71 Martha POSITION TYPE : Part-time(0.4 FTE), Permanent WAGE: $20.99 - $23.62 HOURS OF WORK : Days (07:30 to 16:00) Evenings (15:30 to 24:00) Job Summary Main Street Project (MSP) provides Withdrawal Management Services to participants at two locations: 75 Martha and 146 Magnus Avenue. The primary purpose is to help participants begin their recovery journey through detox stabilization, supporting access to longterm treatment and managing external recovery needs. Both sites offer 24hour support in a safe and stable environment at no cost. Prior to admission all participants receive a medical clearance detailing how MSP Staff can support the participants time in the unit. MSP Staff conduct regular checkins with clients regarding their plans, goals and wellbeing, and assist with the creation of individualized detox care plans. Duties and Responsibilities Engage in intake coordination and review for incoming participants of MSP Withdrawal Management Program Oversee intake into Withdrawal Management services including the review of medical clearance forms, completion of intake assessment forms, and medication confirmation and review Medication administration, tracking, and monitoring Collaborate in medical health scenarios with MSP Nurse Practitioner and internal WFPS resources Build relationships through oneonone checkins and documentation for each participant on the unit Support implementation of programming within the unit including participation Advocate and assist with referral to internal MSP Case Management program and external services based on participants selfdetermined goals Assist participants in planning, problemsolving, and addressing immediate needs, including providing meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies Provide support and resources without judgement for participants Respond to emergency situations; assess, intervene, and document critical incidents, requesting assistance when needed or when incidents exceed the scope of the role per MSP Policy and Procedures Ensure participants are informed of internal and external resources, services, and programs when needed Ensure care provided meets professional standards Work collaboratively and professionally with all external partners Maintain accurate and confidential electronic and paper file records Collect and submit agencyrequired statistics on time and with accuracy Maintain cleanliness of the program area by following routine cleaning schedules each shift Qualifications Relevant experience working in human services, preferably with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance use issues Postsecondary education in addictions or mental health is an asset Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners Compassion for working with individuals who use substances and experience mental health issues Clientcentered care philosophy Ability to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in daytoday support of participants Knowledge of the effects of poverty and health determinants Collaborative teamwork skills Knowledge of Indigenous culture Lived experience relevant to the role Knowledge and ability to apply Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, MMIWG Calls to Justice, and UNDRIP principles Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written Experience working with culturally diverse populations Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online databases Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check (employee responsible for any charges incurred) Current CPR, Basic First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certifications Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification considered an asset Conditions Of Employment Meet the physical demands required for the role, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing cleaning duties (bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, crouching) Exposure to biohazards, including but not limited to blood, bodily fluids, and syringes Work with individuals who use substances and/or experience mental health issues Provide support in highintensity incidents such as medical emergencies and aggressive individuals Comfortable working in an environment where Indigenous ceremonies and practices occur, including smudging Assist in providing first aid when required Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check are required Embodies MSP Core Values: Reducing Harm, Truth and Reconciliation, AntiOppression, TraumaInformed Values & Competencies Ability to embody MSP Core Values: Reducing Harm Truth & Reconciliation AntiOppression TraumaInformed Key Competencies : Crisis Management Service Excellence Meeting people where they are at Collaboration and Developing External Relationships Accountability Decision Making Main Street Project offers Competitive wages within the nonprofit sector Health & Dental Benefits Pension Plan Professional Development Opportunities Paid Sick and Family days Shift Premiums Employee Assistance Program #J-18808-Ljbffr
