Job Description

University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach undergraduate level courses for the Fall Term (September to December) 2026. Successful applicants must be available for the full duration of the term. Clinical placements are citywide, and site preferences cannot be guaranteed. Teaching schedules vary and include daytime and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. Term Dates September 1, 2026 - December 4, 2026. Course BScN Term 3: NRSG351 Health Promotion Practicum. Schedule Options Option #1: Clinical Monday/Tuesday (8hr, off campus), Lab Friday 13:30-16:30. Option #2: Clinical Wednesday/Thursday (8hr, off campus), Lab Friday 13:30-16:30. Teaching Responsibilities Work effectively with groups of students on campus or in online settings. Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance. Participate in student assessment and evaluations. Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues. Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidenceinformed practice. Qualifications Eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Masters degree preferred, although candidates with BN/BScN preparation will be considered. Applied Experience Current practice experience related to semester focus. Broad experience across a variety of areas. Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students. Enhanced Abilities Application of adult teaching/learning principles. Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation. Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals. Teamwork and leadership skills. Evaluation and promotion of student problem solving and critical thinking. Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback. Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings. Computer skills in word processing, email and internet access.
