About The Role: This position reports to the Executive Director, Clinical Operations and has a passion for care toward residents, families and team members. The Administrator is responsible for ensuring the provision of outstanding care and support to residents, resident families and volunteers within their designated scope of practice. The Administrator is accountable for the leadership and ongoing development of the longterm care, supportive living, and related community outreach programs and services at their respective sites. What You Will Do: Service Excellence: Promotes service excellence and is accountable for ensuring a safe living environment for residents, families, and visitors, and actively seeking new ways to improve the quality of programs and services Maintains an awareness of the daytoday functioning of the centre. Ensures an effective preventative maintenance program is implemented. Plans for and requests capital upgrades necessary to support program requirements. Identifies opportunities and develops proposals for new Care Centre programs and services consistent with Bethanys longrange plan. Works with external agencies to plan and implement new opportunities. Develops processes to ensure efficient operations of programs. Establishes community partnerships to support quality care for all residents. Develops, manages and communicates annual operational and capital budgets and resources to members of the care team and facilitates the prioritization of care needs within budget allocation. Monitors the financial performance of the site. Ensures that proper procedures are followed in order to obtain payment for resident accounts that are in arrears. Identifies budget variances and takes action to address budget issues in a timely manner. Provides qualitative and quantitative data to demonstrate continued improvement of programs and services. Maintains and reports information and records as required by the Society and applicable legislation. Maintains quality assurance programme. Team Work: Cares for and actively participates in and assists the site employees to achieve and maintain a responsible atmosphere of residentcentred care. Promotes constructive caring relationships with the site employees, fostering an understanding of the unique contributions of all team members, as well as with the residents, families and visitors. Establishes and maintains effective communication and rapport with all divisions of Bethany and its service partners. Collaborates with the Bethany Care Foundation to identify fundraising projects and develop fund proposals and other materials. Assists in developing partnerships with other health and lifestyle organizations. Establishes and maintains rapport with representatives of other sectors of the local health care community. Establishes and maintains rapport with appropriate provincial government officials. Works with the communication department to coordinate advertising and other marketing efforts. Leadership: Facilitates progressive and participative leadership and provides effective communication and vision for the provision of care and service. Manages site team in a manner which fosters quality care, good human relations, contract obligations, adherence to legislation and effective operations. Recruits, selects and orients qualified team members to ensure a full staff compliment is maintained. Ensures a high standard of performance and a strong residentcentred service orientation by providing regular feedback and enforcing procedures and standards. Facilitates and promotes staff development and recommends training programmes that enhance skills and abilities. Ensures all employees are maintaining and practising excellent customerrelations skills in the workplace. Leads the sitebased business planning process and ensures followthrough and implementation of initiatives. Manages the site in a manner that ensures both the healthcare and financial goals established for the site are attained. Identifies new revenuegenerating opportunities and ensures effective management of overdue accounts. Implements corporate communications strategies; including communication of corporate strategies to staff and residents. Alerts the Society to potential publicrelations issues that may impact the public image of the site or organization. Develops and maintains effective communications with appropriate personnel with government departments and the local care community. Develops short and longterm marketing plans for the site. Fosters positive relations with unions and employee groups. What You Bring: Bachelors Degree in a healthrelated field or equivalent combination of experience and education Graduate degree in a healthrelated field is preferred. At least 5 years experience in a leadership role; management skills required. Professional Registration. Active membership with the Canadian College of Health Leaders is preferred. Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment. Excellent judgement and exemplary interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of computer software. Gerontology experience is an asset. Excellent organisational skills.
