About Our Opportunity As the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, you will be responsible for the daytoday safe operation of the Fleet Maintenance Facility located in Shubenacadie. This opportunity will allow you to use your leadership skills and technical knowledge to inspire a team of technical staff and help us effectively and efficiently maintain our fleet. In this role, you will lead the vehicle maintenance program, oversee quality mechanical services and supervise the work of five mechanical staff and one supply technician. You will act as the key contact for all vehicle and equipment repairs that are completed inhouse or at outside vendors. You will combine innovative thinking when generating and implementing creative solutions in order to achieve Department goals and address any challenges. You will oversee vehicle and equipment expenses related to repairs and maintenance, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal policies. You will monitor vehicle recall notices, maintain complete and accurate records, and work closely with the fleet manager on vehicle replacement decisions and performance issues. The work you and your team do ensures the efficient and effective flow of equipment repairs and keeps our fleet available, dependable, and safe at all times. Qualifications And Experience To be considered for this opportunity, candidates have a minimum of one (1) year of proven supervisory experience in fleet maintenance and at least three (3) years of handson experience in a fleet maintenance environment performing mechanic work. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. You must also have an interprovincial Red Seal Certification in Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Transport Repair, Heavy Duty Equipment Repair or Motorcycle and Power Products Repair. Applicants must have a valid class 5 (minimum) drivers licence with a clean Drivers Abstract. To be successful in this role, you must have demonstrated initiative and the ability to determine the best course of action regarding vehicle repairs while following associated policies and procedures. A good understanding of preventative maintenance planning and programs is also required. You are focused on promoting best practices and adjusting goals and objectives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fleet service delivery. You have strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and accuracy, and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, enabling you to positively and effectively interact with staff, management and clients to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. You will also have working knowledge of computer systems and applications, including spreadsheets and related programs/databases. Knowledge of computercontrolled diagnostic technology would be considered an asset. We will assess the above qualifications using written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks. Additional Information This position is a vital component of the Fleet Management Team and is a fulltime permanent position covering 80 hours biweekly. This role requires considerable lifting, shoving and handling parts. Work may be performed in a repair/service environment that is prone to higher levels of noise, dust and fumes and interruptions. This is a permanent, fulltime position based in Shubenacadie.
