Job Overview We are currently looking for an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls Designer to be based out of our Guelph office. The role will initially focus on transit and water/wastewater control system design and consulting, with opportunities in other critical infrastructure sectors. The position is based at the Vancouver office on a hybrid work arrangement. This role offers significant growth within the organization as the team expands, and requires a background in control system design, automation, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and the IT/OT space. Key Responsibilities Design control system schematics such as installation details, loop diagrams, connection and interconnection wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc. Develop Process Control Narratives, functional descriptions, and I/O Lists. Support the creation and updates of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Specify instrumentation and select the correct technology based upon project needs and interactions with the process. Conduct site visits to client facilities to collect and document existing conditions. Review vendor drawings for conformance to specifications and client needs. Adhere to client and company standards, combined with sound design practices required on designs. Work on projects ranging from small standalone I&C projects to large projects involving multiple engineering disciplines; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for successful design and client satisfaction. Write technical reports and perform cost estimating, including at the conceptual level, to help clients plan future upgrades. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) settings. Support construction projects by reviewing and commenting upon contractor submittals, onsite inspections, and witness testing. Qualifications 4 year Bachelor''s degree in a related field of study such as Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent 3 year Post Secondary Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma program. License to practice Engineering in Ontario or eligibility is considered an asset (P.Eng designation or equivalent). A minimum of 5 years experience in a handson technical role is required. Preference given to candidates with a background at consulting engineering firms. Previous experience at a Consulting Engineering firm considered an asset. While the intention of the role is to support projects based in British Columbia, interprovince travel may be required as project needs arise. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate within a multidisciplinary environment and interface directly with clients. Knowledge and design experience with multiple automation platforms such as Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, and Emerson RX3i. Experience designing control systems, cable routing, security/access control systems, and server/network rack layouts. Experience in specification development and selection of automation equipment and instrumentation. Familiarity with electrical codes is considered an asset. Design experience with communication networks such as copper, fibre, wireless, Ethernet, and serialbased protocols is considered an asset. Previous experience with scoping and pricing assignments is considered an asset. Experience with AutoCAD is considered an asset. Previous programming experience in PLCs, SCADA, or DCS is also considered an asset. Additional Information Why choose Eramosa?
