Job Overview This driver will transport, remove, deliver, and collect various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from various customer sites. The role requires loading and unloading trucks and operating a variety of equipment, including vacuum trucks, box trucks, and other vehicles as permitted by the drivers license. The Emergency Response Operator will respond to various incidents such as: Environmental and industrial spills Clandestine laboratory decommissioning Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety planning Marine operations related to fuel spills into open bodies of water, involving boom deployment and boat operations Weather event responses involving wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding Chemical assessments and advisory services Working alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders Incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters Participating in job-specific and health & safety training as required Operating in an efficient and safe manner Completing work-related documentation and reporting Following all established organizational policies and procedures Promoting a workplace free of harassment and violence Performing work in a safe manner that does not endanger oneself or others Reporting workplace hazards and other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or safety of others Adhering to occupational health and safety legislation and relevant laws Participating in team/staff meetings when required Maintaining confidentiality and minimizing risk Requirements High school diploma minimum Certification from a recognized truck driving school Valid commercial drivers license Overtime as required Weekend work may be required on a weekly call schedule Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques High level of personal integrity Strong work ethic Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Confident, consistent, decisive personality Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required GFL Talent We thank you for your interest.
