This posting reflects an existing vacancy within our Niagara Falls location. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing all accounting and finance operations while providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth and sustainability. This role includes ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing budgets and forecasts, driving cost control and revenue growth initiatives, mentoring and developing the accounting team, and identifying opportunities to optimize processes, strengthen internal controls, and align financial strategy with corporate objectives. This is a fulltime permanent role working 40 hours a week onsite. Our hours of operation are 8:15am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities Oversee and lead the accounting team, providing mentorship and guidance as needed Train and develop a successful team by identifying any skill gaps within the department Develop individual performance goals, conduct monthly oneonone feedback sessions, and complete annual performance reviews to ensure alignment with corporate objectives Empower the team towards achieving corporate objectives, departmental goals, and personal goals by sharing the why and the needs of the business Strive to improve team member experience through optimization and automation of software and processes Participate in the recruitment of all accounting team members Oversee all aspects of CWDs accounting and finance operations Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and analysis in accordance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines Manage cash flow and forecasting, ensuring that adequate funds are available to meet operational needs Establish guidelines for the preparation of budgets and forecasts Oversee the development of the annual budget that is adequate for the companys needs including preparation of periodic budget forecasts Analyze and report on the companys financial results regarding profits, trends, costs, and budget variances Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that invoices are processed promptly and payments are made in a timely manner Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and government accounting policies and procedures Direct the preparation of tax returns and filings including GST/HST, US sales taxes, corporate taxes, recycling fees, etc., ensuring compliance with government regulations Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external vendors Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs Lead companywide risk mitigation efforts across financial, operational, and compliance areas by partnering with departments to identify, assess, and address organizational risks Drive cost control initiatives to support financial sustainability and operational efficiency Support revenue growth initiatives through financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic insights, while partnering with external vendors to drive growth and optimize cost controls Oversee treasury functions, including managing cash, investments, and profits, and supporting business decisions related to financial viability Stay abreast of developments in accounting, taxation, and financial reporting, and proactively identify potential implications for the organization Undertake related duties as assigned to achieve department objectives and company goals Qualifications College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field Minimum of six (6) years of related experience Five (5) years leadership experience CPA designation required ERP experience required Experience with international tax law (corporate and sales) is an asset Knowledge of subsidiaries and establishing or managing corporate entities outside of Canada Proficiency using Microsoft Office Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, IF Statements) Uptodate financial accounting knowledge (ASPE) Experience managing a large volume of data Excellent organization and timemanagement skills Analytical and highly motivated selfstarter Detailoriented problem solver Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fastpaced everchanging environment You Will Stand Out If You have experience using NetSuite You have experience with accounting in an ecommerce environment What We Offer Our expected compensation range for this role is $100,000.00 $135,000.00 annually. The salary you may receive will be determined based on the skills, experience, and qualifications you bring to the position, as well as how they align with the responsibilities and scope of the Controller role.
