Network Specialist II - DC Power Operations Location: Qubec, QC, CA, G1P 4R4 Job Function: Network & Engineering Status: Full Time Schedule: Regular Description Our team and what we''ll accomplish together Join the TELUS Network Engineering and Operations DC Power Operations team, where your technical expertise ensures the reliability of critical power infrastructure across the TELUS network. As part of the team, you''ll work on essential power systems that keep our telecommunications network running 24/7, performing both maintenance routines, emergency operations, and capital project work that makes a real difference to our customers and communities. What youll do Perform maintenance and assurance duties on critical power platforms including Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), DC Plant and Batteries, Inverters, Rectifiers, Converters, Diesel Generators, Fuel Systems, and Building Grounding Systems Respond to in-service alarms and conditions with potential for degradation, performing onsite diagnosis and troubleshooting to resolve issues for CAT1 sites in the region while providing remote support for nonCAT1 sites Support AC/DC Power work for both Wireline and Wireless networks, performing multifunctional breakfix repairs, routine maintenance, Capital build Project QC, and operational testing Manage generator operations including ensuring diesel reserves, managing refueling efforts at CAT1 sites, tank cleaning, fuel polishing, and maintaining Generator tap boxes to comply with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) standards Conduct regular site reviews and testing to ensure power requirements meet TELUS standards, and provide training and guidance to Network teams for powerrelated activities Select vendors and negotiate contracts relating to DC Power operations, facilitate payments utilizing TELUS systems, and perform QA to ensure vendor compliance to TELUS standards Notify the Power Ops Manager for serviceaffecting events, engage and direct vendors as required, and participate in initiating technical bridges for serviceaffecting issues Qualifications What you bring Bachelors Degree in a relevant field, or technical training with relevant experience Working knowledge of emergency power systems, including diesel generators, ATS, and UPS Experience in power operations, specifically with DC power systems and power design Familiarity with safety procedures for electrical work and working with hazardous materials such as battery fluid, electrical isolation techniques, and all related PPE Proficiency using electrical tools and testers (DMM, oscilloscope, clamp ammeter, IR camera, Midtronics) Strong organizational skills to scope out difficult tasks, set objectives, prioritize multiple activities, and anticipate roadblocks with minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills to forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including collaboration with groups like NAEP Planning/Standards and the NOC Valid drivers license (without restrictions) with willingness to travel across the defined region and ability to work in remote locations Ability to take part in an oncall rotation with potential to work nights, weekends, and offshift schedules Qualification for Canadian Government Security Clearances Greattohaves Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.) and internal TELUS software applications (NPI, FIRM, SAP, Fieldglass, Zabbix, etc.) Knowledge of Telecom Networks, environmental and HVAC operations Experience performing at standard in current role for a minimum of 12 months Intermediate knowledge of English is required because you will on a regular basis interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position''s main responsibilities given its international scope. Salary Range: $70,000$130,000 Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12% Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
