Job Description

For 85 years, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School has been inspiring young artists and supporting them in the pursuit of their goals. The RWB School is well known across Canada and around the world for providing excellence in dance education. The schools stateof the art facility, located in historic downtown Winnipeg, is home to about 1,000 students annually who make up the schools Professional and Recreational Divisions. Among the schools many strengths is its connection to the RWB company and the visibility of students to the RWB companys Artistic Director. Reporting to the Artistic Director and Executive Director, the newly created role of Director of Educational Programming (the Director) is designed to strengthen and refine the vision, business model, structure, and delivery of the RWBs educational streams and to support the continued evolution of the Schools identity further distinguishing it among leading dance training institutions. The Director will be a visionary leader and passionate ballet educator who combines a deep understanding of ballet and dance pedagogy with sound business acumen. Ideally a former professional dancer, the Director will have artistic credibility within the dance community. This leader will uphold the rigour and discipline of classical ballet while joyfully embracing exploration across diverse dance forms and practices. A collaborative team leader and relationship builder, the Director will combine a commitment to excellence in dance training with empathy, integrity, and welldeveloped interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills. They will inspire students, faculty, and the broader RWB community, fostering an environment where artistic growth and personal development thrive. Providing both creative and operational leadership, the Director will advance strategic priorities, lead and support the educational team, and build meaningful relationships with students and families. Serving as the Schools ambassador to the broader community, the Director will represent and advocate for the School with external partners and stakeholders. Working closely with the Artistic Director, Executive Director, a dedicated team, and the wider School community, the Director will guide the ongoing growth and evolution of ballet and dance education, embrace innovative practices and perspectives, embed the principles of Reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of the School, and help set forwardthinking standards for holistic training and meaningful inclusion throughout the dance field.
