THE OPPORTUNITY Serving as a core member of the Senior Leadership team, On-Hill Operations Manager will lead and oversee all facets of hill operations, ensuring seamless, safe and exceptional experience for members, guests and staff. You will ensure that on-hill operations are aligned with Programs, Patrol, Events, Food & Beverage, Membership and Finance departments. You will be a dynamic and strategic leader who will develop innovative operational strategies, manage large-scale projects and foster a culture of continuous improvement. As a senior leader, you will create a collaborative culture, drive operational excellence, optimize processes and build strong partnerships to elevate the overall performance of our Club. Your energetic leadership will inspire teams, streamline operations and contribute to the long-term success of our Club operations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Fosters a positive environment for all employees and that all interactions are respectful and professional. Lead, coach and mentor all team members within the department. Build and maintain relationships with Club management and other team members. Provide effective leadership to direct reports including coaching, training, managing performance and encouraging professional development activities for new and experienced team members. Consistently communicate with the appropriate departments to guarantee that operations are executed successfully. Conduct weekly departmental meetings with all team members. Works closely with the People and Culture Manager for any coaching, development or disciplinary actions required. Trains and empowers team to handle concerns and process for resolution. Ensure team is professional and is in proper dress for the work they are required to do. Scheduling of teams for daily operation as well as ensuring payroll is accurate. Financial and Compliance Responsible for creating and administering annual budget for the departments. Maintain operating budgets for operations and monitor financial performance. Proactively participate in relevant Club Committees, attending meetings as required. Prepare and present operational performance reports and capital project updates for Club Committees. Work closely with the General Manager to create annual budget for the departments. Operations Work closely with department Leads to manage the daily hill operations, including lifts, grooming, snowmaking and vehicle maintenance. Ensures the hills are ready to open for the season as per the scheduled operating calendar. Assist in the planning of snowmaking production to ensure a successful winter skiing experience. Assist with ski lift maintenance to ensure compliance with TSSA codes, CSA Z98 and to ensure operational availability through operating periods. Play a key role in large projects such as implementation and operation of the new snow making automation. Coordinate projects including summer repair, maintenance and installations of snowmaking, Ski Lifts, hill infrastructure and Club infrastructure. Ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the department. Collaborate with department Leads to improve terrain quality and the member experience. Assist in the preparation and executes of yearly off-season projects. Maintains a safe and fully functional fleet of equipment and tools that service the hills and its equipment. Organizes and administers a preventative maintenance program for all equipment. Monitors trees on site to ensure that any unstable or hazardous ones are removed. Provide additional support as needed in the day-to-day running of the Club. Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and follow in accordance with the Clubs Health and Safety policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Secondary education in related fields would be an asset. Experience in ski resort operations including snowmaking/ski lifts/mountain operations would be preferred. Ontario TSSA Ski Lift Mechanic certificate Class A is an asset, or related experience. 8-10 years of work experience in a similar position. 3-5 years in Senior Management role. Exceptional leadership skills to recruit, coach, develop, mentor and retain key talent. Strong team building skills. General construction experience with electrical and mechanical skills would be an asset. Extensive knowledge of hand tools, power tools and heavy equipment is a requirement. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Demonstrated impact and influencing skills with the ability to negotiate with professionalism, tact and diplomacy. Proven ability to be proactive and use good judgement. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with strong time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills. Flexible, adaptable and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
