This includes Smart Grid innovation, managing complex grid technology implementations, overseeing grid technology operations and managing a team of grid technology professionals. The Manager, Grid Technology will have 2 direct reports (Supervisors) and oversee a total team size of approximately 10-12 staff. Major Responsibilities As the custodian of Grid technology, work with distribution operations, engineering and asset management to develop and evolve the Smart Grid Strategy and the resulting roadmaps. Lead/Participate in Grid innovation including behind the meter technologies, EV technology, AI platforms and AR/VR technologies. Manage all grid technology operations including support of Grid Technology systems such as ADMS, SCADA, OMS, GIS, P-Tech, Telecom Fiber and others. Direct key grid technology projects including developing business cases, vendor selection, timelines, budget and risk. Liaise closely with the System Control Room and Distribution Operations to develop processes that leverage technology to support the response and recovery of the grid during power outages. Participate in the Emergency Response operations and grid restoration during large unplanned power outages to ensure that operations are supported from a technology perspective. Work closely with stakeholders such as IT to manage system uptime, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and business continuity. Manage a team of Grid technologists and engineers. Continuously review and implement human resource planning by selecting staff, ensuring appropriate training is provided, delegating tasks and assignments, defining goals, communicating feedback on performance and ensuring strict adherence to all Health and Safety standards and other applicable laws and regulations. Prepare the capital and operating budgets for the Grid Technology section and approve expenditures. Participate in industry workgroups to support innovation in the industry. Stay current with emerging technology trends as it pertains to grid innovation and automation. Work closely with vendors and partners to develop support partnerships, understand roadmaps and implement new features. Job Requirements Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of 5 years experience in grid technology, operations, or a similar role and experience managing a team Experience in a utilities environment. Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite as well as SCADA, GIS, and OMS. Leadership capabilities in goal setting and performance management, strong communication, financial management (budgeting, cost control), and strategic thinking & planning.
