About the Role At Compass ELC you will work as an Early Childhood Educator alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and coworkers. You are passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families. You could be scheduled for any shifts between the program hours of 6:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. This role will work within the infant, toddler, preschool classrooms. Responsibilities Plan and lead interestbased and playbased activities that reflect childrens unique interests to promote their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play. Document childrens learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions. Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and wellbeing of children. Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits. Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process. Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment. Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities. Assist in housekeeping duties within the program. Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures. Unpaid Time an option for permanent staff to purchase up to 4 weeks of unpaid time prorated off of 24 pays. Requirements 13 years experience working with children and youth. Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards. Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records. Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. or has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Directors Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers Primary and Junior).
