As part of HDRs Transportation Business Group, youll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. This is a casual, temporary, asneeded position with no fixed schedule. You will be notified when work is available. Responsibilities Provide inspection and construction supervision on Class 1 railway projects Maintain accurate daily diary entries and complete contract documentation records Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment Conduct daily inspections in accordance with client requirements and expectations Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications Report onsite activities, concerns, and nonconformances to the Project Manager and provide recommendations for resolution Provide mentorship to junior staff Liaise with client representatives as required Act as client site representative Work may require nights, weekends, and extended shifts Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits Perform other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Postsecondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering and/or relevant experience Minimum 5 years experience with engineering or construction Previous experience working with Metrolinx, CN Rail, and CP Rail projects Experience with municipal or provincial transportation projects (considered an asset) Ability to read and interpret construction design drawings Ability to work in a team environment and independently in remote locations Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification considered an asset Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma) Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Proven problemsolving and documentation abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid drivers licence (Class G) with an acceptable driving record and access to a reliable vehicle Commitment to being an active participant of our employeeowned culture At HDR, we are committed to the principles of employment equity.
