Monogastric Nutritionist, Alberta - Remote, FT Masterfeeds is a leading Canadian Animal nutrition company serving the livestock and poultry industries with quality people and products. Position Summary The Monogastric Nutritionist is responsible for developing and managing poultry feed programs for established and prospective customers across Alberta, as well as supporting selected swine feed customers throughout the Prairie provinces. This role provides technical expertise, formulates and balances rations to meet speciesspecific nutritional requirements, and ensures feed programs remain competitive, practical, and profitable within the marketplace. Working closely with customers and the sales team, the incumbent will design customized and standard ration programs, apply scientific knowledge alongside current production technologies, and identify opportunities to implement new nutritional strategies, products, and technical advancements that support business growth and profitability. This is a homebased position requiring a reliable, highspeed internet connection. Travel is required for onfarm visits and sales support, primarily within Alberta and Saskatchewan. The incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to the business affairs of Masterfeeds Inc. Key Duties & Responsibilities Supporting Independent and Colony Poultry Growers Alberta Provide technical nutritional support to broiler, layer, turkey, and breeder operations by developing and maintaining practical, competitive feed programs tailored to customer needs. Partner with the sales team to support customer growth through farm visits, presentations, and technical consultation with both prospective and existing customers. Represent Alberta within the national poultry nutrition team, contributing market insight, technical expertise, and collaborative problemsolving. Supporting specific Independent and Colony Swine farmers in Alberta & Saskatchewan Provide nutritional support across weaning, growing, and sow operations by designing and managing effective, competitive feed programs. Work closely with the sales team to strengthen existing accounts and assist in business development through customer engagement and onfarm support. Collaborate as part of the integrated poultry nutrition team to provide technical support, diet formulation, problemsolving, and crosscoverage when team members are unavailable. Engage in regular team discussions, idea generation, and technical problemsolving initiatives to continuously improve nutrition programs and customer outcomes. Continually acquire the knowledge to be accepted and recognized as an expert in animal nutrition and production and then disseminate this to other members of the Monogastric nutrition team. Strategic Projects Contribute to and support initiatives that deliver integrated nutritional solutions for poultry and swine customers. Lead and manage assigned projects to ensure timely execution and measurable business impact. Reviews and alignments Assist with national reviews, e.g. Premix, or new genetic company recommendations, to compare current situation to best practice and industry guidelines, then align where appropriate, and keep segregated where required. The ability to not simply use a cookie cutter approach, and to critique the whole situation, will mark a successful candidate for this position. Education Develop and review technical training materials to support internal education initiatives, including Masterfeeds Poultry College (MPC). Deliver inperson and virtual technical training to sales teams as required. Maintain the required academic credentials and professional knowledge base in monogastric nutrition. Compliance and Professional Standards. Work in accordance with all safety regulations, legislative requirements, and company policies while maintaining high standards of professionalism, customer service, communication, and time management. Maintain flexibility for travel and scheduling, hold a valid drivers license, and operate effectively within an independent, territorybased structure. Experience Related experience in poultry and/or swine nutrition is preferred. Practical onfarm experience within swine and/or poultry production environments is considered a strong asset. Skills & Qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted customer relationships Demonstrated customer service focus and understanding of livestock production systems Ability to influence, present, and provide technical guidance with confidence Advanced technical knowledge in monogastric nutrition and feed formulation A Masters degree in Poultry Science, Animal Nutrition or closely related area is the minimum qualification for this role. A PhD in this area would be an additional advantage for applicants Onfarm experience, particularly in Poultry or Swine production, would also be an advantage Solid understanding of product applications and business impact Effective time management skills with the ability to work independently in a territorybased role The above responsibilities are intended to describe the primary functions of the role and may be modified by the Director of Nutrition & Innovation to meet evolving business needs.
