The successful candidate will hold an academic position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and will be eligible for a fulltime clinical academic appointment. The anticipated start date is July1,2026. SMH is a 463bed quaternary care academic centre and one of four principal teaching hospitals of the University of Toronto. The Department of Medical Imaging is recognized for excellence in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate teaching and research. The successful candidate will perform all types of vascular and nonvascular Interventional Radiology procedures and participate fully in the supervision, processing and interpretation of all vascular CT and MRI studies. This role may also involve interpretation of other diagnostic radiology studies (Xray, ultrasound, CT and MRI). Significant opportunities for advancement in clinical leadership and research in IR are available at both the University of Toronto and SMH. The candidate will join the Division of Interventional Radiology in SMH, participate in the acute oncall roster covering Interventional Radiology, attend radiology resident rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings/rounds, and supervise trainees at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, including the dedicated clinical IR fellowship program at SMH each year. Qualifications: MD or equivalent with completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship training in Interventional Radiology, or an accredited Interventional Radiology residency. Additional diagnostic radiology fellowship training, particularly in Abdominal Imaging, preferred for a hybrid interventional and diagnostic abdominal radiologist role. Procedural experience in interventional oncology, innovative interventions for pain management, pulmonary AVM embolization, and/or transperineal prostate biopsy considered assets. Experience or training in reporting chest CT and spine MRI/CT considered assets. Evidence of excellence in teaching and/or research required. Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario and certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or comparable qualifications. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range exceeds $200,000CAD per annum for a fulltime equivalent, with potential for increase based on experience and academic credentials. Infrastructure: SMH has three dedicated IR suites, two dedicated neurointerventional suites, nine ultrasound units, three CT scanners and four MRI scanners. There are growth plans for an additional CT and MRI scanner and a day unit dedicated for IR patients. Outpatient IR service capacity expansion is underway. Research support: The hospital houses the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and the Keenan Research Centre offering robust research support and collaborative translational research opportunities.
