Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia Posting Number: SLP0225 (Quote this number on application documents) Location: Amherst (Albion Street) Compensation: $51.06-$66.50/hour Hours: 70 hours biweekly Start Date: ASAP End Date: 2 years less a day from start date Closing Date: Open until filled About Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speechlanguage pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and SpeechLanguage Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant). Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians. Position Summary We are accepting applications for a temporary, fulltime (1.0 FTE) position of SpeechLanguage Pathologist. The home base site is Amherst. The successful candidate will report to the assigned Manager. Schedule to be determined. Required Qualifications Master''s Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & SpeechLanguage Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligibility for licensure Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language, further documents will be required. Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings Candidates must demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period Recent experience with provision of preschool speech and language assessment and treatment Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for pediatric caseloads Knowledge of disciplinespecific best practices in assessment and early intervention of young children with developmental disabilities, specifically those with autism Demonstrated commitment to familycentered care Valid Nova Scotia driver''s license and access to a reliable vehicle Desired Assets Two years of clinical experience within the last five years with children with autism Experience with offsite/homebased service delivery model Experience working with interprofessional clinical teams and/or supportive personnel Experience with provision of services via telepractice Experience providing caregiver training and/or coaching Experience in provision of alternative and augmentative communication systems Ability to communicate in multiple languages in a clinical setting Training and knowledge of Pivotal Response Treatment and Picture Exchange Communication System Lived experience with a communication difference Able to start immediately Benefits A nationally accredited program with Accreditation Canada A provincewide support network of professional colleagues, clinical resources, and coordinated clinical services Varied caseloads and work settings Salaries (fulltime) commensurate with experience (starting at $92,939), and an excellent benefits package Continuing education opportunities Opportunities for relocation and clinical specialization EEO Statement Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia is an inclusive employer who supports diversity, equality, and reconciliation.
