Position Description Reporting to the Assistant Coordinator Y NDC, the Camper Care Specialist Y NDC supervises and implements the delivery of quality recreational programs, services and experiences to children and youth aged 4 to 12 enrolled in Camp programs. The Camper Care Specialist Y NDC supervises inclusion counsellors, provides them with tools to create a meaningful camp experience for all participants as they engage in summer camp activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build selfconfidence and establish lasting friendships. Locations ClarenceRockland YMCA Downtown Ottawa & Taggart Family YMCA Neighbourhood of Barrhaven Neighbourhood of Stittsville Neighbourhood of Ottawa South or Orleans Key Responsibilities Ensuring that children with particular needs have a positive experience leading to personal growth through fun and rewarding programs. Being responsible for supporting the training of staff and providing them with tools to be successful in their role. Actively engaging in sports and play with program participants. Creating an atmosphere of safety, belonging and positive development. Performing some housekeeping responsibilities, like sanitation of equipment, cleaning program areas, etc. Qualifications and Abilities At the YMCA of the National Capital Region, we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. Language Ability to work in English Bilingualism is an asset Experience, Skills and Abilities Minimum 4 years experience working in camping and outdoor education, and minimum 2 years supervisory experience in camping and outdoor education Minimum 2 years experience working with children with special needs, such as behavioural, cognitive, or physical Experience working in a camp setting is considered an asset Welldeveloped interpersonal, conflict resolution and relationshipbuilding skills Additional Requirements Applicants must be 18 years old by June 2026. Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR ''C'' certification. Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada. A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decisionmaking process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position. Semiannually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
