The Role This summer student will help promote and raise awareness of services for older adults and individuals with diverse abilities, while providing support to the revenue development, communications, and volunteer engagement teams. With guidance from their colleagues, the student will conduct research, interviews, and other journalismbased activities; create a variety of written and visual content for digital and print platforms; assist with inperson and virtual events and promotions; and support officerelated tasks connected to volunteer recruitment. Tasks and Responsibilities Assist with planning and execution of our signature event, Tacofest, with logistics, social media, and various other planning tasks. Successful candidate must be available to work the evening of June 19, 2026 (Tacofest). Assist to promote and raise awareness of services for older adults and people with diverse abilities. Coordinate tasks with team members of the revenue development, communications and volunteer engagement departments. Assist the Development Team with special event tasks including promotions, social media, setup/teardown of inperson and virtual events, preparing sponsor and participant packages, etc. Support the Volunteer and Engagement Team by assisting with screening candidates, assisting with interviews, and completing reference checks. Assist with officerelated tasks such as preparing volunteer packages, data entry and filing/scanning records as needed. Produce an array of written and visual content for one or more digital and printbased media platforms. Assist with other special projects including onsite vegetable garden. Enthusiasm to help with other duties as required. Deliver Meals on Wheels. Requested Skills & Qualifications This job is funded through Canada Summer Jobs 2026, and to be eligible applicants must: Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment. Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant Ontario legislation and regulations, including having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment. Be available to work the entire 8week contract. Hold a valid G or G2 Drivers License, and have daily access to a safe, licensed and reliable vehicle for businessrelated travel. Hold a satisfactory police record check for the vulnerable sector. Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Be completing or have completed a degree, diploma or certificate in communications, marketing, event management, public relations, volunteer management or a related program. Have experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign) and Canva preferred. Have experience with social media, including creating and scheduling posts and creating and engaging reels and stories. Demonstrate superior multitasking and organizational skills. Demonstrate superior attention to detail. Have experience with seniors, volunteers, and/or persons with diverse abilities. Have ability to communicate in a language other than English an asset.
