The Manager, Indigenous Initiatives supports the implementation of the recently developed YMCA BC Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan and provides guidance across related initiatives. This role will lead and support internal working groups, contributes to events and initiatives, and develops training and resources to build staff understanding. The role also leads and supports relationshipbuilding and engagement with First Nations, Indigenous communities, and partner organizations in the communities we serve and the territories on which we operate. Major Responsibilities Report to and work closely with the Director, EDIB to advance organizational Truth and Reconciliation priorities. Provide centralized coordination, leadership, and guidance for the YMCA BCs Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan, ensuring alignment, accountability, and progress across the organization. Coordinate and lead meaningful engagement with local First Nations, Indigenous communities, organizations, and partners, supporting respectful, reciprocal, and contextappropriate relationships. Navigate complex and sensitive engagement contexts with care, applying thoughtful analysis, sound judgment, and consultation to support respectful outcomes and longterm relationships. Develop and deliver organizational tools, resources, and frameworks that support learning, engagement, and the integration of reconciliation commitments into everyday practice. Lead and support internal working groups and organizationwide events related to Truth and Reconciliation, such as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and the Moose Hide Campaign. Qualifications Lived experience as an Indigenous person (Inuit, Mtis, and/or First Nations) and/or specialized professional experience supporting Truth and Reconciliation initiatives. Strong relationships and connections with local First Nations and Indigenous organizations are considered an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the ongoing impacts of colonialism, with an understanding of diverse worldviews, including Indigenous perspectives and TwoEyed Seeing. Experience building and sustaining respectful, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses, and partners. Experience leading projects, facilitating working groups, and coordinating crossdepartmental or multipartner initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience developing learning resources, tools, frameworks, or guidelines to support organizational initiatives and change. Ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and work effectively both independently and within a teambased environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
