Reporting to the Executive Director, the Recreation Manager plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of residents by planning, organizing, and executing a variety of engaging activities. These activities are designed to promote social interaction, physical wellbeing, spiritual, and emotional enjoyment for participants. The job requires a blend of creativity, organizational skills, and a genuine passion for people. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement and monitor department budget. Coordinating bus trips, entertainment, and vendors. Supervise the Recreational, pastoral care, social work and music therapy, massage therapy team. Promoting activities, through social media, with an expectation of 4 or more Facebook posts per month. Evaluating program success to meet the needs and interests of the participants, ensuring completion of 9 program evaluations per month, 2 resident program evaluations per month. Plans, organizes, direct, and/or lead a variety of engaging activities and events, 2 community events per year, using residents interests, and requests whenever possible. Enhance participant wellbeing, with a goal of each resident being engaged at least 10 times per month. Assess department needs and draft an action plan. Coordinate the completion of MDS assessments on all residents within established timelines, including Recreation and Spiritual assessments are completed within 14 days of admission. Actively participate in the homes Interdisciplinary team conferences, QIP, PAC, Palliative Care, Falls teams and other related committee meetings. Facilitate a monthly Program department meeting. Responsible for the scheduling of the Program department, including approving payroll hours as per the Collective Agreement. Computer skills: Microsoft Word; Excel, Welbi or Activity Pro. Connect with community organizations and services. Knowledge and Skills Required: Required to have a postsecondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university. Postsecondary educational requirement can also include gerontology as a field of study from an Ontario postsecondary institution, or a postsecondary diploma, degree or certificate granted in another jurisdiction that in the reasonable opinion of the licensee is equivalent. One year of experience in a health care setting. Experience in planning, developing and evaluation effectiveness of individual and group programming for residents using an interdisciplinary approach. Knowledge of Mental Health, Dementia care, Palliative Care, Parkinsons, and other diseases. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English and French language. Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner. Knowledge of the community resources, program development, and Ministry of LongTerm Care standards. Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of staff and volunteers. Flexible and willing to work on call when needed. Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in multifaith settings is an asset. A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date. Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months. Working Conditions: This is a fulltime officebased role with standard business hours, though extended hours may be required for special events and critical deadlines. The environment is fastpaced and deadlinedriven, requiring high attention to detail and strong time management skills. The role includes regular use of computer systems and collaboration with crossfunctional teams.
