Job Summary The Plant Manager III, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the daytoday operations of the assigned MRF and maintaining cost management within the MRF. The successful candidate is a visible, handson leader who thrives under pressure, makes sound realtime decisions, and drives a strong culture of accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Location: 12707 170th Street, Edmonton AB T5V 1L9 Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Ensures smooth operation of the site, including gatehouse, sorting, loading. Ensures system is performing at highest level. Minimizes handling and operational costs. Continually works to reduce turnaround time for trucks in and out of the site. Regularly proposes means of operational improvement. Acts as a liaison, where necessary, for community relationships and customers. Oversees and manages WM contractual obligations. Complies with and ensures adherence to WMs Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations. Submits reasonable budget information and analyzes data versus yeartodate data and prior year budget. Assists in creating a positive teamoriented environment through employee development and motivation. Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the MRF through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees. Oversees personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions. Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic safety meetings. Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner. Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner. Identify and eliminate waste to improve flow, reduce downtime, and optimize labor and equipment utilization. Lead problemsolving initiatives using structured methodologies. Drive a culture of continuous improvement with measurable results. Build, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline teams. Set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for performance and behavior. Foster a positive, engaged, and highperforming work environment. Motivate teams during highpressure situations while maintaining focus and discipline. Supervisory Responsibilities The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes: Direct supervision of 4-5 fulltime employees. Indirect supervision of approximately 40-45 fulltime employees. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Education: Bachelor''s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience. Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement). Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees, including managers and supervisors (in addition to the required experience and education). Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required: Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire and influence teams. Calm and decisive under pressure, with strong problemsolving ability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Datadriven mindset with strong analytical capabilities. High level of ownership, accountability, and integrity. Work Environment The normal setting for this job is a plant (Material Recovery Facility). Significant travel to Ontario and US facilities for training may be required. Benefits The expected base pay range for this onsite position in Edmonton is $130,000 $150,000. This range represents a goodfaith estimate for the position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. This position is eligible for bonus.
