In this role, you will work directly with prospective and enrolled students who experience disability-related barriers to learning, supporting equitable access to academic programs and services.Learning Advisors provide individualized advising and case management throughout the student lifecycle. This includes assessing functional impacts of disability, developing accommodation plans, and collaborating with faculty and campus partners to support inclusive learning environments.This position requires strong professional judgement, the ability to interpret policy and documentation, and a commitment to student success through equitable and thoughtful advising practice.**Key Responsibilities****Advising & Case Management*** Conduct intake appointments and ongoing advising sessions with students experiencing disability-related barriers to learning* Review medical or psychoeducational documentation to determine eligibility for accommodation supports* Develop individualized accommodation plans aligned with institutional policy and academic requirements* Monitor accommodation effectiveness and adjust supports as needed* Provide guidance on academic strategies, assistive technology, and available student supports**Accommodation Implementation & Consultation*** Work collaboratively with instructors and academic programs to facilitate implementation of approved accommodations* Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding accessibility and accommodation practices* Support resolution of accommodation implementation concerns**Documentation & Record Management*** Maintain accurate, timely, and defensible documentation of advising activity and accommodation decisions* Record service plans and case notes in institutional systems* Contribute to service reporting and data tracking**Collaboration & Professional Engagement*** Participate in case consultations and team discussions within Learning Services* Maintain awareness of developments in accessibility legislation and advising practice* Contribute to initiatives that promote accessible and inclusive learning environments**Skills & Expertise*** Knowledge of disability accommodation frameworks and barrier analysis* Understanding of human rights legislation and the Duty to Accommodate principles* Ability to interpret medical or psychoeducational documentation* Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills* Sound judgement in complex or sensitive advising situations* Strong written communication and documentation skills* Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and campus partners**Qualifications*** Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Disability Studies, Counselling, or a related field* 35 years of experience in post-secondary advising, accessibility services, or a related student services environment* Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and abilities* Familiarity with assistive technologies and learning support resources is considered an asset* Professional engagement in advising or accessibility networks (e.g., PADRA) is considered an asset**Remuneration**Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.**Classification Student Advisor II**The Learning Advisor role is located on the main NAIT campus, but may be required to provide services at the Patricia and Souch Campuses.
