Opportunity Reporting to the Manager of the Pediatric Day Surgery/Recovery Room, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a member of an interdisciplinary care team, providing holistic, comprehensive evidencebased care to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. The RN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient/family care to promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness, injury, and disability, or support a peaceful death. The RN engages in independent, interdependent and dependent functions to provide healthcare focusing on comprehensive assessment, patient/family education, and coordination of care. The RN builds professional relationships with other nurses and health team members to support the work of a strong interprofessional team and provision of quality patient/family care. Hours of Work Monday Friday, 8hour shifts rotating between 0630 1900, as well as standby between 1300 2100 days, evenings & weekends. Qualifications Bachelor''s Degree in Nursing required (candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered). Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) required. Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required. PALS course required or willing to obtain prior to the start date of assignment. Minimum one (1) year recent Pediatric nursing experience required; first consideration given to candidates with pediatric recovery room experience. Demonstrated experience in recovery room an asset. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy, fastpaced environment required. Proven communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated independent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills required. Demonstrated experience in patient/family teaching an asset. Demonstrated sound knowledge of Family Centered Care preferred. Critical Care experience preferred. Demonstrated flexibility with proven, excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
