Working to promote nursing excellence and uphold the highest professional standards, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for surgical patients throughout the perioperative continuum. The OR RN works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate surgical care. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of perioperative nursing knowledge, technical expertise, and sound clinical judgment, while demonstrating professionalism, respect, and a commitment to patient safety. This role requires strong assessment abilities, advanced technical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to maintaining aseptic technique and surgical standards. The successful candidates home site will be the site listed above and may be required to work at two or more locations. QUALIFICATIONS Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Completion of a recognized Perioperative Nursing Certificate from an institution accredited to deliver perioperative nursing education Programs must align with Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) Standards, ensuring competency in sterile technique, safety, and surgical support roles Minimum one year of recent clinical experience in an Operating Room (within the past three years) Current BCLS certification Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment Ability to function effectively as both scrub nurse and circulating nurse, supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interprofessional teams Proficiency in maintaining aseptic and sterile technique, preparing surgical instrumentation, and supporting intraoperative patient care Strong understanding of safety protocols, surgical workflows, and operating room best practices Proficiency with hospital information systems and electronic documentation Demonstrates professional integrity and sound judgment with accurate, timely documentation aligned with CNO standards and best practice guidelines Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in fast paced, high acuity environments Ability to deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care while maintaining a focus on positive patient and family experiences Applies leadership skills by providing, facilitating, and promoting quality patient care Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and interprofessional colleagues Skilled in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and providing emotional support in challenging situations Strong organizational and timemanagement skills to manage competing priorities Applies knowledge, skills, judgment, and competencies required for safe, independent, and interdisciplinary practice in accordance with CNO and related professional standards Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a dynamic team environment Effective communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues in challenging or sensitive situations Demonstrated commitment to patient and family education and the ability to promote health and wellness Strong problemsolving and prioritization skills in managing multiple patient needs Applies Niagara Health values with a commitment to professional practice standards, patient safety, and continuous learning Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education, and practical experience in clinical decisionmaking Dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment that prioritizes quality care and a positive patient experience Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining clinical competence Consistent and regular attendance required How to Apply CARE members of the STARS or PASS Program should connect with their Case Manager before applying for this position #J-18808-Ljbffr
