Job Title: CNC Programmer Job Description Join a small, collaborative machining team to program, set up, and operate 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling machines to produce custom parts for a specialized catalogue. You will interpret and follow detailed instructions, job specifications, and blueprints, and verify completed components using precision measuring instruments. When workloads shift, you will support general labour tasks and assist in other departments to keep production running smoothly. Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling machines to produce custom machined parts according to specifications. Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam, ensuring efficient tool paths and accurate machining of aluminum components. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations. Perform one-off custom machining on aluminum parts, adjusting programs and setups to meet unique customer requirements. Use precision measuring instruments such as verniers and calipers to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet quality standards. Set up milling machines, including tooling selection, workholding, offsets, and machine parameters, to achieve accurate and repeatable results. Operate Fanuc-controlled CNC equipment, monitoring machine performance and making adjustments as needed. Assist with general labour duties, including material handling and occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Support other departments when machining workloads are lighter, contributing to overall production needs. Follow documented processes, drawings, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks and orders on time. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards. Collaborate with team members and leadership to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and ensure consistent workflow. If experienced with Solidworks, design and develop 3D models from technical drawings to support machining and production. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Solidworks for designing models from technical drawings. ERP system experience to support production planning and job tracking. Bandsaw and drilling experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to production, measurement, and assembly. Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team and communicate clearly with colleagues and leadership. Work Environment This role is based in a clean, organized manufacturing facility located in the southeast area, focused on custom manufacturing, cable assemblies, electrical panels, and specialized installations for a variety of industries. The shop operates as an assembly-style environment where each team member works at their own station as part of a coordinated production line. The atmosphere is positive and friendly, with a close-knit team of approximately 16 people on the commercial side of the facility. Noise levels are moderate and generally free from loud disturbances, supporting focused, detailed work. Team members receive a daily list of tasks and follow drawings and process documents to complete orders accurately and on time. The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a predictable daytime schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CALGARY, AB.
