Responsibilities As a member of a team working in a dynamic, challenging, and growing business environment, you will demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the science of group underwriting. Your key responsibilities include: Work independently and as part of a team. Operate effectively in a paperless environment. Manage risk selection, plan design, and pricing decisions for large complex quotes and new cases. Handle a portfolio of major groups with high complexity. Document rationale and final decisions for all quotes and renewals within risk binding authority with minimal supervision. Apply and adapt underwriting methodologies and technical analysis for large complex cases. Strategize with sales to acquire new business, negotiate pricing and exception items, and provide guidance regarding alternate arrangements to meet client needs. Provide consulting advice, guidance, and training to less experienced underwriters. Review and approve junior staff work (as needed) and offer constructive feedback. Process all assigned work in accordance with departmental service standards, identifying and escalating potential process improvement areas. Participate in and complete special tasks or projects assigned by team leadership or management. What we offer Competitive salary and annual bonus. Minimum five years of group underwriting experience with a company or in a similar environment. Expert knowledge of group insurance concepts, products, and contract provisions. Advanced proficiency in English due to the nature of duties or interactions with Englishspeaking partners, members, or clients. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Word. Industry courses taken and/or designations achieved (e.g., LOMA, CEBS, HIAA). Communicates effectively, drives results, shows interpersonal savvy, and plans and aligns.
