OverviewThe Software Technologies team provides solutions to meet grid security needs with a comprehensive suite of power system analysis tools, with capabilities for both off-line and on-line analysis. The Departments flagship product, DSATools, developed exclusively by Powertech, incorporates leading-edge technologies for the modeling and analysis of power systems.As a Power System Software Engineer, you will be involved in both software development and power system studies. Candidates with background and experience in these areas would be at an advantage.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement computation methods and power system models in softwareDesign, code, test and documentation of softwareCustomer support and software product maintenancePerform power system studies ranging from dynamic model validation, transmission planning and operation, load and generation interconnection, integration of renewables, etc.Assist in marketing and delivery of software, software projects and consulting projectsParticipate in research and development efforts and conduct field measurements at clients facilitiesQualificationsMasters or PhD in Electrical Engineering specializing in Power Systems from a recognized post-secondary institutionP.Eng or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BCIntermediate to advanced knowledge of power systems analysis, modeling techniques, and computational algorithmsMinimum 5 years of experience as a Studies Engineer, Consulting Engineer or Software Engineer in a similar position or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceKnowledge of protection and control systems of rotating machines, substations and power systems is an assetSolid understanding of reliability standards and regulations related to power system operation, protection, grid voltage and frequency controlsExperience with programming in one or more of the following: C/C++, Visual Basic, Java, Python, and Matlab.
