Downtown Hamilton | Fast-Growing SaaS / Fintech The Compliance Manager supports the design, implementation, and daytoday oversight of the companys compliance program, with a primary focus on AML/ATF, sanctions, KYC, transaction monitoring, investigations, regulatory reporting, and compliance advisory support. This role works closely with the Head of Compliance to maintain a robust, riskbased compliance framework aligned with the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and informed by FATF standards and guidance. The Compliance Manager plays a key role in overseeing operational compliance activities, reviewing higherrisk matters, supporting regulatory engagements, and providing guidance across the business while helping strengthen controls, documentation, and accountability. What Youll Be Doing Program Support & Oversight Support the Head of Compliance in managing, enhancing, and maintaining the overall compliance program. Assist with the ongoing development, maintenance, and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, frameworks, and internal controls. Monitor compliance with AML/ATF, sanctions, KYC, and related regulatory requirements. Operational Compliance Management Oversee daytoday compliance operations, including KYC/CDD/EDD reviews, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, investigations, and regulatory reporting workflows. Review and approve higherrisk client files, escalations, unusual activity, and enhanced due diligence cases. Support the preparation, filing, or oversight of required regulatory reports, as applicable. Conduct or oversee investigations into potential suspicious activity, sanctions concerns, or control weaknesses, and recommend appropriate next steps. Risk Assessment & Quality Assurance Help manage the client risk assessment process, including risk rating methodology, refresh cycles, and documentation standards. Oversee periodic KYC reviews, remediation initiatives, and file quality assurance activities. Participate in control testing, monitoring activities, quality assurance reviews, and issue remediation tracking. Advisory & Stakeholder Support Provide compliance guidance and advisory support to internal stakeholders across onboarding, operations, sales, product, and management teams. Support regulatory examinations, audits, internal reviews, and responses to information requests from regulators or auditors. Prepare compliance reporting, metrics, dashboards, and updates for the Head of Compliance. Assist with the design and delivery of compliance training, including rolebased and targeted training initiatives. Supervise, coach, and support junior compliance team members, as applicable. Escalate material compliance issues, regulatory concerns, and control gaps to the Head of Compliance in a timely and effective manner. Perform other compliancerelated duties and responsibilities as assigned. What Were Looking For Bachelors degree in law, business, finance, criminology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, AML, financial crime, risk, or regulatory roles, preferably within payments, fintech, MSBs, banking, or other financial services environments. Strong knowledge of AML/ATF, sanctions compliance, KYC/CDD/EDD requirements, suspicious activity investigations, and riskbased compliance frameworks. Working knowledge of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and related Canadian regulatory obligations. Familiarity with FATF Recommendations and their practical application within a financial crime compliance program. Experience reviewing higherrisk clients, managing escalations, and conducting compliance investigations. Experience drafting, implementing, or maintaining compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls. Experience supporting audits, regulatory examinations, or supervisory reviews is an asset. CAMS, CFCS, or similar professional certification is considered an asset. Strong judgment with the ability to assess risk and escalate issues appropriately. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance. Strong analytical, investigative, and problemsolving capabilities. High attention to detail and strong documentation standards. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with crossfunctional stakeholders. Comfort operating in a growing and evolving business environment.
