Position Overview CONTRACT POSITION | Posted: April 17, 2026 | Application Deadline: May 17, 2026 Green Thumb Theatre is inviting expressions of interest from Equity Stage Managers for its upcoming remount tour of 500 Words by Jamie Norris. This tour will take place across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, touring into schools and venues in the fall of 2026. It is a TYA tour operating under Article 55:00 of the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA). Schedule Prep Begins: September 9, 2026 Preview: October 2, 2026 Opening: October 5, 2026 OutOfTown Dates: October 16 November 18, 2026 Closing: November 29, 2026 Possible Extension: November 30 December 6, 2026 PostPrep (without extension): November 30 December 2, 2026 PostPrep (with extension): December 7 9, 2026 Compensation The weekly fee will be in the $880905 range. Fees associated with additional duties are not included in this fee and will be paid out additionally in line with CTA rates. The Stage Manager will receive per diems as determined by the CTA when outside the Point of Origin, which is Vancouver, BC. No per diems or compensation for living expenses will be provided when the tour is rehearsing or performing in the Point of Origin, even if the Stage Manager is from outside of the Lower Mainland. Qualifications Applicants must possess: A valid BC Class 5 drivers license or equivalent provincial license Valid first aid certification or willingness to obtain it Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Show Synopsis Lance is the smartest kid in grade six and never misses an opportunity to show off his vocabulary. Sylvia, a daydreamer in grade three, always creates fantastical worlds but struggles to find the words to bring her stories to life. When Lances teacher assigns him Sylvia as a reading buddy, he focuses on his own writing rather than spending time with her. When he cant think of a story on his own, Sylvias vibrant imagination creates a world of magic from which he draws inspiration. Together, they learn that Sylvia can overcome her fear of reading and that Lance discovers that the biggest word isnt always the smartest, and that you really cant judge a person until you get to know them.
