Job Description

Overview KWAG is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Accessibility Consultant for a project spanning May 2026 to April 2027. This project, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, is intended to build capacity in delivering accessible programs. The Consultant will support this project by providing support in accessible hiring, completing an assessment of gaps in access to current programs and the art studio, compiling a report with recommendations, leading 2-3 training sessions for staff (including Visitor Services and Programs staff), and undertaking a follow-up assessment towards the end of the project. They will also be expected to participate in the projects closing symposium, Access in the Arts, in April 2027. Term & Compensation Term: May 2026 to April 2027 Fee: $9000 Approximate hours: 60 Responsibilities Provide support in accessible hiring. Complete an assessment of gaps in access to current programs and the art studio. Compile a report with recommendations. Lead 2-3 training sessions for staff (including Visitor Services and Programs staff). Undertake a follow-up assessment towards the end of the project. Participate in the projects closing symposium, Access in the Arts, in April 2027. Qualifications Expertise (education, work and/or lived experience) in AODA standards, universal design, models of disability, accessible hiring practices, current best practices for accessibility in workplaces (ideally including arts institutions and public programs). Experience leading and/or coordinating accessibility projects and initiatives in the arts. Experience delivering accessibility training to staff. Experience completing successful assessments and recommendations for improved accessibility, ideally with other arts or cultural organizations (examples may be requested). Work experience specifically with artistic institutions; familiarity with public art gallery programming an asset. Ability to be on-site at the gallery for assessments, training and follow-up (minimum).
