Reports to: Program & Resource Manager + Assistant Program & Resource Manager Status: Casual/Occasional Compensation: $66.80 per workshop delivered based on 40 to 70 min in length (can deliver multiple workshops per visit/day) Training and additional event shifts compensated based on hours worked Location: In-person and Virtual. Must be able and willing to travel to schools and community groups throughout the Niagara Region (Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Grimsby etc). We accomplish this through providing experiential and science-based agriculture and food education programs that inspire students to be curious, critical, and conscious about their food choices, discover exciting career opportunities that match their passions, and be bold global citizens, thinkers, and innovators. Position Overview You will be responsible for virtual and/or in-classroom delivery of lessons and presentations on agriculture and food related topics as part of the Teacher Ambassador Program. AgScape''s Teacher Ambassador Program is designed to make a meaningful impact on students'' food and agriculture literacy, health, future careers and overall success. The program places AgScape''s Teacher Ambassadors, who are skilled and experienced Ontario educators, directly into classrooms to teach your students various curriculum-linked lessons related to agriculture and food, and encourage critical thinking when it comes to making food choices. Key Responsibilities Deliver Ontario curriculum-linked agriculture and food-related lessons to students and teachers across the province. Coordinate and communicate with educators to schedule dates and times for the delivery of workshops/lessons. Understand and apply current educational trends and strategies when delivering workshops/lessons. Adapt and adjust workshop/lesson content and delivery style based on student grade levels, abilities and accommodations. Network to schools and teachers to grow registrations for the Teacher Ambassador program. Promote AgScapes additional education resources and materials available for. Provide opportunities to support AgScape at external events (i.e., promote our free resources at a.) Provide opportunities to attend agriculture and food events with the AgScape team for personal professional development and education. Team player You can work cross-functionally with teammates who have different areas of expertise in both a virtual work environment and during occasional in-person events. Competencies & Other Requirements Must meet one (1) of the following criteria: be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers currently in a Bachelor of Education/Master of Teaching program, as recognized by the Ontario College of Teachers currently in an Early Childhood Education Program registered as an Early Childhood Educator Must have access to a vehicle or public transportation. Must have access to reliable internet and computer. Comfortable with working with technology (i.e. educational technologies, a variety of web conferencing software, Google Workspace etc.). Agriculture and food expertise is considered an asset. Possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Strong passion for promoting programming and expanding educator network. Have the ability to take initiative and self-manage. Communicate effectively through a variety of oral, written and digital forms. Comfort and willingness to work with multiple age ranges/grade levels. Ability to coordinate and manage program schedules efficiently. Provide a Vulnerable Screening Sector prior to working in schools.
