Our Certified Resident Services Attendants are critical to our communities by supporting people in doing the things that matter most to them while providing a comfortable, safe, and nurturing environment. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, the role focuses on enriching residents lives by ensuring they can make their own choices and lead full lives as independently as possible. Care is delivered based on individual care plans, policies and procedures, and established standards of care, with duties as instructed by the Health & Wellness Manager or the RPN in their absence. Background / Qualifications Minimum of grade 12 education required. Certificate from an approved Health Care Aide or PSW program; Certified Resident Services Attendants must complete training related to the care they are providing. Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR required. Previous experience as a Health Care Aide/Resident Services Attendant working with seniors is considered an asset. Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, fostering excellent relationships with residents, families, and team members. Ability to work with minimal supervision, evaluate resident care needs, and demonstrate initiative and problemsolving skills. Dependable, responsible, and teamorientated with a positive attitude necessary to meet the residences goals and standards. Residentoriented individual whose vision and values align with those of the residence. Key Responsibilities Participate in and adhere to continuous quality improvement standards. Collaborate with the care team to provide feedback on care plans based on residents physical, emotional, social, and safety needs. Provide cognitive, social, and emotional support to residents in accordance with their care plans, promoting comfort, safety, and wellbeing. Support residents optimal level of functioning in activities of daily living while respecting their rights and choices. Perform nursing care procedures in accordance with resident care standards and established policies. Observe and report/document changes in residents physical and emotional condition; monitor vital signs, maintain health records in compliance with legislation (e.g., Privacy Act), and participate in shift reports. Complete documentation accurately and legibly per policies and procedures. Monitor specific intervention outcomes, offering information or suggestions for improvement. Provide ongoing support to coworkers and advocate for residents and families, ensuring residents rights are protected. Utilize equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies, manufacturers instructions, and health and safety regulations. Ensure residents living space and personal belongings are clean, free from hazards, and organized per residents personal choice. Serve beverages and resident meals in the dining room as requested. Assist with duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the residence, including housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining adequate supplies. Follow routine nursing practices and infection control protocols, including outbreak management. Maintain effective communication and good interpersonal relations with residents, families, physicians, and other departments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Health & Wellness Manager or delegate. Comply with all corporate policies and procedures. Complete all required mandatory training and education. Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System/Globally Harmonized System, including recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, and participating in inservices and fire drills.
