This role requires strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships that drive business value.Key ResponsibilitiesNegotiation and Contract ManagementLead negotiations for purchases & services to secure optimal pricing, quality, and termsDevelop negotiation strategies based on market analysis, historical data, and business requirementsIdentify opportunities to negotiate longer-term contracts with key service and consumable suppliers to reduce costs.Coordinate service contract renewals & amendments.Supplier Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain strong professional relationships with key suppliers and vendorsConduct regular supplier performance reviews and provide constructive feedbackCollaborate with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction opportunitiesResolve complex supplier issues while preserving valuable business relationshipsIdentify and nurture strategic partnerships with critical suppliersStrategic SourcingResearch and identify potential suppliers for high-value products or servicesAnalyze total cost of ownership for major purchasesImplement supplier diversification strategies to reduce supply chain risksDevelop sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectivesFinancial ManagementManage procurement budgets for assigned categoriesTrack and report on cost savings and avoidance metricsAnalyze spending patterns to identify consolidation opportunitiesCategory ManagementDevelop deep expertise in assigned product or service categoriesStay current on market conditions, industry trends, and pricing benchmarksCreate and execute category management strategiesRisk ManagementIdentify and mitigate supply chain risks related to high-value purchasesDevelop contingency plans for critical suppliers and productsMonitor supplier financial health and stabilityEnsure compliance with relevant regulations and company policiesMentorship and LeadershipProvide guidance and mentorship to junior buyersShare specialized knowledge and best practices with the procurement teamParticipate in or lead procurement process improvement initiativesRepresent the procurement function in cross-departmental meetings and initiativesOther duties as assignedExperience / Skills required:Min 5 years in a professional, manufacturing, or industrial setting (nice to have construction or steel industry)Experience negotiating pricing and service agreements with freight carriers to secure competitive transportation rates.Ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and improve costs.Understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, and relevant regulations (e.g., customs).High proficiency in ERP systems and Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).Education/ Certifications required:Bachelors degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and/or working towards or holding designations like SCMP, CPIM, or CPSM.Core CompetenciesAssertive communication with stakeholders and suppliers.Able to manage pressure, tight deadlines, and operational problems.Data-backed decision-making, trend analysis, and price comparison.Works effectively both independently and within a team environment
