Position Title: E06/2026 - CAD GIS Analyst Job Opening Id: 45025 # Required: 1 Anticipated Start Date: Immediately Close Date: 2026/05/17 Position Summary The Computer Aided Dispatch/Geographical Information Systems (CAD/GIS) Analyst provides client focused business process and technology support for the Versadex CAD and integrated GIS applications. Working closely with the functional area, you will support existing systems and applications while working on the implementation and support of all new Versadex system initiatives and related systems or interfaces within the functional area. The CAD/GIS Analyst assists the Communications Unit by serving as the technical resource in yearly upgrades to CAD and RMS, MDT/MRE and application interfaces (i.e. ProQA and Voice Radio System) with CAD significance. Analyzing the Communication Units Technology needs for the design, development and Implementation of Versadex and other supporting applications on an ongoing basis. The CAD/GIS Analyst is responsible for a repository of GIS data applicable to NRPS business needs. Including but not limited to NRPS specific layers (Districts, Zones), regional base data and shared services agencies data. Major Responsibilities Develop and execute GIS and CAD quality assurance checks and quality control procedures. Ensure that the data entered into the CAD system from various sources, approved applications and interfaces is accurate and accessible to maintain both Public and Officer Safety. Develop and maintain GIS applications and configure and maintain CAD applications. Prepare and maintain the NRPS mapping (crime analysis and dispatch, spatial analysis of police events and police location data) inventory, and relevant databases to meet corporate and business unit needs. Prepare standard and custom maps following established cartographic principles, using appropriate symbology and classification methods to enhance map readability. Provide operational and technical support for shared services systems, including Fire CAD and GIS platforms, in collaboration with internal teams, shared services partners and service providers. Generate reports and products from geographical databases and related systems including 911 and crime analysis databases, to meet the needs of the NRPS and its business & operational units. Perform spatial queries and analyses using a variety of GIS programs and relational databases. Resolve technical issues by researching problems, collaborating with impacted partners, and clearly communicating solutions to meet end-user requirements. Analyze user requirements and generate alternative approaches to information systems design, development and implementation. Prepare system prototypes for user consultation by creating a test environment based on requirements and system design including software interface and database environments. Assist in the design, development, and creation of applicable databases. Responsible for accurately maintaining Information Files, Alarm Files, Common Place Name Files, Premise History Data Contact Information and Premise Warning Data. Work with Versaterm system to ensure data is entered, maintained and available for users. Maintain system integrity by ensuring all information is thoroughly tested before it is put into production. Validate, maintain, and support the accurate receipt and integration of Next Generation 911 (NG911) data within the CAD system. Assist in developing procedures and standards for data collection and integration, as well as methods to reduce duplication and data entry errors. Conduct business analysis and prepare recommendations for the Operations Systems Coordinator regarding new initiatives, enhancements, and upgrades and present them through the chain of command. Manage the development, testing, training, modifications and implementation of systems or system enhancements. Research and test new CAD/GIS hardware (GPS units, laptops, mobile device, etc.), applications, software, and procedures prior to Enterprise implementation. Ensure adequate level of training is provided to Service members enabling them to complete their duties accurately and efficiently. Participate in cross-knowledge sharing with inter-related systems. Effectively lead assigned projects through the development of project plans and controls which include estimating and planning of specific tasks, providing direction, guidance and technical support to staff and ensuring adherence to defined schedules. Provide project reporting to project stakeholders. Provide coverage for the Mobile Applications Analyst as required. Other related duties as assigned. Job Specifications Three (3) year college diploma or university degree in a related field (Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Data Processing), plus a minimum of 2-3 years pre-job experience in a related field with a demonstrated understanding of Public Safety/Emergency Services operations and services, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and applications experience. Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or able to obtain within 1 year of employment. Certified Geomatics Specialist GIS/LIS (CGS) or able to obtain within 1 year of employment. Advanced Knowledge of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system from operational, technical and a design perspective as a great asset. Solid understanding of the Records Management System (RMS), Mobile data Terminals (MDT) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and related systems. Demonstrated knowledge of SQL principles and applications. Perform GIS mapping updates for operational essential applications (CAD, MDT, Real time Operations Center (RTOC) & Emergency Services geographical mapping, etc.) on a monthly basis or as required. In depth knowledge of systems, functions and processes for troubleshooting, training and process change recommendation purposes. Undertake professional and networking opportunities, as approved by management, to ensure continuous improvement in educational capacity, skills, and abilities. Facilitate and participate in GIS user and Regional groups. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with GIS developers, consultants, agencies, boards, and commissions. Demonstrated project management skills to manage and deliver projects within strict deadlines. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; deal courteously, tactfully, and diplomatically with management, co-workers and shared services clients. Demonstrated experience and ability to work with vendor and end user communities to assess and recommend appropriate solutions, calling for strong interpersonal and collaboration capability.
