Position Summary Location: Mount Sinai Hospital Campus - Toronto, ON M5G 1X5, Canada (Primary). Salary: CAD $28.49 $30.94 per hour (2025 CUPE UC3A). Job Type: Regular Part Time. Job Description As a Ward Clerk in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will be at the heart of our health care team, ensuring seamless communication and coordination that directly impacts patient experiences. In this role you will Receive, greet and screen patients/families/visitors arriving to the unit Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers within and external to the department Process patient appointments (i.e. outpatient clinic referrals, outpatient diagnostic imaging tests) Compile patient information and disassemble charts for Health Records Oversee patient charts on the unit and for quality assurance purposes Utilize electronic systems to capture length of stay information pertinent to the patients journey Provide overall administrative support (e.g. answer/direct incoming telephone calls, update whiteboards, photocopy, fax, order of supplies, word processing) Provide customer service to patients and visitors by answering questions and assisting with wayfinding Coordinate the sterilization or repair of medical and office equipment Collaborate with the Help Desk and Building Services on routine maintenance and requests Participate in activities to upgrade and enhance ones jobrelated knowledge/skills through inservice training sessions, quality improvement initiatives, and policy manual review Assist with orientation of new Ward Clerks Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements Mandatory Successful completion of a diploma or degree from an accredited educational institution with preference given to graduates from a secretarial studies program 1 year of experience in a related role Proficiency with Patient Care Systems Skills and Knowledge Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook Proven flexibility, initiative, organizational and problemsolving/decisionmaking skills Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, patients and their families, as well as with intra and interdepartmental team members Skilled at setting priorities and handling multiple tasks simultaneously Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history If this sounds like you and youre ready to build a career in hospital administrative support, apply now and let us know why you would be a great addition to our team.
