Position Overview As a P&D Central Planner, you play a key role in keeping freight moving efficiently across our network. In this position, you will create optimized daily route plans and coordinate freight movement to ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. You will analyze freight volumes, available equipment, and delivery requirements to build effective route plans that maximize capacity and support strong operational performance. Location: Dartmouth, NS Schedule: Sunday - Thursday | 11:00 pm - 8:00 am (Shifts run overnight; the work week spans Sunday night through Friday morning) Key Responsibilities Plan and optimize freight loads to reduce empty miles and improve cost efficiency across the fleet. Maximize delivery capacity while minimizing overhead to drive profit margins. Strategically mix and match loads with available trucks, factoring in delivery deadlines, origins, destinations, and fleet availability. Consider and balance multiple factors in the planning process, including loading sequences, delivery windows, empty mileage, and driver hours. Identify and proactively secure capacity to move freight. Review and resolve problem shipments in a timely and effective manner. Monitor and communicate the status of freight movements and resolve service issues as needed. Serve as a key liaison between internal departments and external clients, ensuring clear communication and effective coordination. Education & Experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related industry. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered (e.g., CITT Supply Chain and Logistics certification, college diploma/degree in logistics or transportation). Familiarity with the transportation industry, especially within Atlantic Canada and Ontario, is considered an asset.
