This position offersgreatopportunityfor dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of exciting and dynamic work assignments.Youllbe a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.RESPONSIBILITIESReviews plans and specifications for projects to ensure compliance with city, State of CA, and federal laws and regulations. Provide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies in plans and specifications.Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building DivisionsAssist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments.Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers such as directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects/assignments.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSExperience with CA Codes specific to Structural designExperience/knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures, including CBC, CRC, ASCE7, NDS, AISC, ACI318, ACI530 and AISI standards.Experience/knowledge of wood, steel and concrete lateral load resisting systems (SMF, OMF, BRBF, SCBF, wood and concrete shear walls, etc.)Experience/knowledge of structural design software (i.e. ENERCALC, ETABS, SAP, RISA, ADAPT, HILTI Profis, Simpson Anchor design, etc.)Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technologyInterpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutionsMust possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clienteleExcellent verbal and written communication skills are vitalGood time management, organization, and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgmentAbility to produce quality plan reviews on time and within budgetEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEStructural Professional Engineer requiredCASp certification requiredICC Building Plan Review CertificationsPreferredValid drivers license with good driving recordE.I.T. on track to obtain PE license is acceptable.5+ years' experience in structural design and structural plan review.Interwest Consulting Group is a municipal consulting firm focused on providing thoughtful, tailored solutions that build thriving communities.
