Duties The incumbents will perform responsible technical and engineering related work exercising independence of action while adhering to department standards, specifications, policies, procedures and sound survey practices. The incumbents will perform one or more of the following functions: Road Inspector, Plant (asphalt/concrete) Inspector, Winter Road Inspector, Instrument Person, Senior Density Inspector, and/or Regional Engineering Assistant. Qualifications Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or completion of the Department Level 2 training courses by May 1, 2026. Experience working in all aspects of roadway construction (including but not limited to, grade, base, asphalt and/or concrete paving projects). Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Ability to work effectively independently. Effective time management and organizational skills. Knowledge of construction specifications, procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of Occupational, Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software package including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and courteously with internal and external stakeholders. Clear and concise written communication skills when completing field notes, portions of construction orders/tenders, worksheets and/or reports. Ability to provide on-the-job training and appropriate technical guidance. Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5F driver''s licence or similar from another jurisdiction. Must have the ability to travel within the province (by air or land) in day and night conditions. Must be able to work extended hours or irregular hours such as weekends/evenings, involving overnight stays (possibly in a camp environment) or in a hotel/motel. Must be physically capable of performing the required duties of the position such as prolonged sitting, medium lifting (carrying up to 25 lbs), walking (on possible uneven surfaces) and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment in both outdoor and indoor conditions.
