Reports To: Coordinator, Community Engagement Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities The Assistant, CNIB Programs, will play a key role in Sudbury providing support to the Coordinator, Community Engagement to deliver CNIB Programs and engage the local community. The assistant will support local programmatic and administrative duties in the Sudbury community hub. They will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere at CNIBs Sudbury Community Hub and support CNIB Mobile Hubs across northeastern Ontario. This position requires a superior level of customer service expertise, accuracy, confidentiality, sound judgment and diplomacy in working with staff, volunteers, program participants and consumers. The assistant will also be responsible for providing representational and logistical support to community events and initiatives as required. Essential Functions The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities: Perform and coordinate programmatic, operational, administrative, and logistical responsibilities in the community, including: Contribute to making CNIB Sudbury Community Hub a welcoming place for participants, volunteers, and staff. Support coordination and execution of the CNIB Mobile Hub in collaboration with CNIB SmartLife and other program areas. Assist staff and volunteers in planning and implementing program content for CNIB SmartLife, Wellness, Technology coaching, and special events. Support participants with engagement in CNIB programs by providing direct support, offering sighted guide, program invites and reminders, and assistance with transportation arrangements. Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB''s policies and procedures. Champion CNIB''s high standards of participant and customer service. Increase education and awareness of CNIB (volunteer opportunities, general public awareness, advocacy) through various communication channels, including social media and community engagement. Build strong, positive relationships with program participants. Proactively encourage and refer program participants to take advantage of CNIB programs and services that may be of benefit to them. Track attendance of program participants. Other duties as required. Problem Solving Works under the general direction of established processes and listens to instructions constructively. Qualifications This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Well developed interpersonal and communications skills. Proficient in Microsoft 365. Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute a plan of action. Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing sight loss, including maintaining participant confidentiality. A detail-oriented approach to all you do. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Accessibility Standards and best practices is an asset. Work Environment Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional attendance at weekend and evening programming or events. Daily workplace is based at the Sudbury Community Hub.
