Changemakers Summer Inclusion Facilitator ID #1501 Orillia, ON, Canada Job Description Posted Friday, April 24, 2026 at 4:00 AM | Expires Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 3:59 AM The opportunity: YMCA facilitators will encourage students to envision, create and enact initiatives and programs that tackle a community problem like homelessness, poverty, hunger, mental health, physical health, social isolation, environmental sustainability to increase the well-being of our communities. Students will use their voice, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills to initiate change through a genuine desire to make a difference. Launched in 2025, the Youth Changemaker Leadership program is a weeklong summer initiative designed to inspire and equip young people with the skills, confidence, and mindset to create meaningful change in their schools and communities. Secured funding now supports the expansion of this program into a multi-level, year-round model serving multiple age groups. This includes integrating Changemaker curriculum into existing YMCA programs, developing additional program streams, and delivering an annual Changemaker conference. Inclusion Facilitators are responsible for providing one on one support to campers with additional needs during their time at camp. Inclusion Facilitators are caring, enthusiastic, and patient. They will use strategies to ensure that their campers experience success in the camp program. Inclusion Facilitators will receive additional training and support but should come into this role with some knowledge and experience related to inclusion. Key Responsibilities: Programming: Assist in developing program inclusion and modification strategies to create a successful camping experience for all. Act as a resource for other day camp staff regarding inclusive programming. Camper Care: Provide one on one or two on one support to campers with additional needs. Actively swim with campers each day. Manage behavioral incidents and implement behavioral redirection techniques when needed. Be a role model for safety and take responsibility for the supervision and security of all participants in your care Shifts may vary, but regular hours are from 8:30am to 4:40pm., Monday to Friday. Travel costs are reimbursed as per our Association''s travel expense and mileage policy. Maintain high quality programin accordance withYMCA standards and best practices, participantneedsand Association strategic directions. Work with groups of children and youth to offer meaningful and impactful change-maker programming over the course of summer 2026. Exercise sound judgment in making decisions, which affect the safety and welfare of program participants. Build collaborative working relationships with funding partners, mentors, and other community partners through ongoing reports, communication and visits. Link participants with community resources that mayassistthem in achieving success. Ensure thatall administrative duties and reportingarecompletedinan accurateandtimelymanner. Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description. Other duties as assigned.
