Position Overview Title: Senior Accounting Clerk Department: Diagnostic Services & Maritime Medical Genetics Location: Halifax Type: Permanent Hourly Full Time (100% FTE) Start Date: ASAP Union Status: Nonunion, Management/Non Union Bargaining Unit Compensation: $28.12$35.20 per hour Responsibilities The Senior Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of accounting and billing reports and the reconciliation of accounts receivable for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Maritime Medical Genetics Services, and Precision Medicine. Qualifications Business Diploma from a recognized Community College (required); Bachelor of Business Administration or Commerce (preferred) or equivalent experience. Minimum five (5) years of related administrative support in healthcare, preferably in a Radiology Department. Two (2) years of related database and/or accounting experience. Training or experience in financial management of clinical practice is an asset. Familiarity with medical/radiology reports; medical and/or radiology terminology course is an asset. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, SAP, QuickBooks, Meditech, Cerner Web and database programs is required. Experience with electronic funds transfer, deposits, statement reconciliations, corporate Visa charges, and payments. Keyboarding skills 60 wpm. Ability to identify and appropriately escalate issues. Articulate and tactful spoken and written communication skills. Strong organizational, planning, informationgathering, and monitoring skills. Problem analysis and problemsolving skills. Judgement and decisionmaking ability. Willingness to learn new software, research methods, and work routines quickly. Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills, attention to detail and accuracy, high degree of flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Application of principles of familycentred care and diversity & inclusion in all activities. Competency in other languages is an asset. Additional Information Hours: 7.5 hour daytime shifts, Monday to Friday. Flexible hybrid working environment: office and remote/work from home.
