Responsibilities Provide a wide range of customer electrical services such as connections, upgrades and emergency repairs. Supervise staff, organize schedules, and assign routine and special duties to clerical, technical, trades and Society staff, ensuring work quality and regulatory conformity. Develop teamwork and a positive environment among peers and subordinates; make recommendations regarding staff changes or promotions and maintain discipline. Administer operations of assigned Operations Centres, ensure security, fire and safety measures are observed, and provide training to subordinates. Direct the disposal of obsolete equipment, conduct work standard studies, and authorize expense reports and other personnel forms as delegated. Plan and direct maintenance for rural lines, street lighting, rights-of-way, buildings and grounds; supervise electrical installations and safety devices in accordance with plans. Participate in planning Zone capital expenditures and coordinate with planning staff on construction and expenditure plans. Manage work processes to meet Service Level Agreements or contracts; contribute to negotiations on distribution work and Service Level Agreements or Contracts. Assist in customer discussions, problem solving, and issue resolution related to Service Level Agreements or Contracts. Provide customer-facing advisory support on electrical problems, construction, rates, and service procedures; handle complaints and coordinate interruptions and transfers when needed. Lead cross-functional teams to implement customer products and programs in asset planning, operations, information management, and tariff applications within timelines. Liaise with technical specialists to integrate recommendations into policies, processes, and products. Develop and implement workplans to address customer expectations and regulatory obligations in the deregulated Ontario electricity market. Provide communications guidance to external groups to aid understanding of regulatory codes and policies. Qualifications Requires knowledge of customer service and distribution functions to supply electrical power and services to utility customers. Requires knowledge of customer operations to lead a staff of mixed trades. Requires knowledge of project management and human relations for effective negotiation with customers and the public; familiarity with computer applications related to distribution networks. Requires strong English communication skills. Requires electrical utility experience, preferably in Operations, and extensive experience in customer service and distribution. Requires understanding of Corporate Safety Rules, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Work Protection Code, and environmental considerations affecting the Corporation. Experience in handling complaints and dealing with retail customers, mid-sized customers, generators, and municipalities. Experience supervising trades and technical staff and promoting teamwork across staff and peers. Experience with broad administrative responsibilities related to monitoring, coordinating, and controlling the work activities of a large team. Ability to supervise and manage multiple facilities and staff in a large organization; knowledge of safety and compliance requirements is essential.
