Our transmission line engineering group has an opportunity for a Civil/Structural EIT for our Burnaby, BC office. This opportunity is available to university graduates and EITs (Engineer in Training). You will work on several power line projects under the guidance of a Transmission Line Engineer or Designer in a dynamic, vibrant, and collaborative team environment. Your Key Responsibilities Perform drafting tasks in AutoCAD or MicroStation for design following industry codes and client standards. Prepare maps, layouts, and plans for power line routes and rightofways. Assist with modeling and analysis of transmission lines and structures in PLSCADD environment utilizing survey data (usually LiDAR). Assist in design of power line structures (wood, steel, and concrete) and their foundations. Assist in the development of design deliverables through preparation of sketches, digital models, diagrams, and other visuals. Prepare bill of materials for power line projects. Assist the Design Team with various project tasks, including researching, compiling and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations as instructed. Participate in site visits as required. Attend project coordination meetings and communicate with internal team members and/or external stakeholders. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including spreadsheets. Good communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to effectively communicate project issues with the project team. Strong interest in developing new skills and career advancement. Working knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation drafting software. Familiarity with overhead power line (either transmission or distribution) design and drafting will be an asset. Any work experience within utilities, EPC service providers, or consulting organizations will be an asset. Experience with GIS mapping is an asset. Selfmotivated with the ability to work both independently and in teams. Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Education and Experience Civil/Structural Engineering degree from a recognized university. Minimum one year of related utility design experience, preferably within the power utility space, is required. About the Team Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for parttime roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
