Shift Time: Day shift (starting at 6am) Wage: From $22.65/h (According to the experience) Some of what you will do: Responsible for leading the daily operational activities related to the delivery & furniture installation teams. Duties may also include: delivery, assembly, installation, repair and service of warranty and non-warranty office furniture case-goods and seating. Assists in routing, dispatching, and training drivers/installers. Frequently provides operational direction to the drivers and installers. Specifically, you will: - Provide work direction and training to drivers to ensure timely delivery of customer orders. - Prepare daily for deliveries by gathering appropriate paperwork, organizing and loading products and dispatching fleets in a manner that assures the most efficient delivery route and schedule. - Deliver products and accept returns from customers as per their requirements while obtaining signatures and completing all required paperwork. - Provides supervision, work direction and training to internal and third party contract systems furniture installers to ensure proper installation in a timely fashion. Special emphasis on training new installers. - Must be able to calculate estimated man-hour requirements to complete installations per customers timeframe and successfully deliver job completion within those man-hours. - Loads systems furniture orders onto truck and delivers and stages product at the customers site for installation. Completes furniture assembly/installation as per installation specifications and blueprints to meet customers satisfaction. Inspects furniture for proper operability according to manufacturers guidelines. - Installs all types of free-standing furniture, panel and modular systems. - Conducts post-installation walk-throughs with the appropriate Business Interiors by Staples personnel to identify any deficiency requirements - Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and report any maintenance problems to supervisor. - Perform all functions in compliance with company safety rules. Qualifications: Some of what you need: - Must have a valid drivers license and a minimum of two (2) years delivery experience with some previous leadership experience. - A minimum of three (3) years experience in working as a contract furniture installer with additional experience desired in installing several contract furniture systems. Must be experienced in using hand and electrical tools to assemble furniture. - Must be at least 21 years of age. - Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract that has no major moving violations in accordance with applicable provincial law) - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills - Ability to work under short lead-times and deadlines - Demonstrated competence in writing installation project and problem reports - Time management and organizational skills, with good leadership skills - Ability to work under short lead-times and deadlines - Experience with driving lightweight trucks preferred. - Prior experience with hand/dolly type equipment and on-the-job training for equipment such as pallet jack is preferred. Employee will regularly drive a delivery truck and must be able to enter and exit the truck throughout the day. Will regularly operate material handling equipment that requires manual dexterity and use of lightweight tools requiring some coordinated movements.Activities include using a forklift or pallet jack to move furniture; and lightweight tools to assemble, install or repair furniture. - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
