We are seeking a Rangeland Team Lead who will be responsible for the development, delivery, and oversight of a broad range of programs in their respective region; programs which include, but are not limited to, the Rangeland Management, Forest Reserve and Provincial Grazing programs. Reporting to the Lands Manager, this senior position will provide advice, leadership, facilitation, evaluation, planning, and analysis and interpretation of policies, programs, and business solutions for their area. The Rangeland Team Lead will supervise a diverse team of technical and professional staff responsible for regional approvals and monitoring programs, and will manage high-profile and complex files to ensure outcomes are delivered within guidelines and timeframes. Responsibilities - Representing the department and region in defense of actions and decisions within this program. - Implementing procedures to ensure integration of forest, water, range, land, environmental practices, and strategic higher-level plans in program approvals. - Managing the Provincial Grazing Reserves (PGRs) and liaising with associated stakeholders. - Developing and approving rangeland plans, short-term renewals, and assisting with Forest Reserve Grazing Allotments as per delegated authority and supporting policy. - Implementing programs to monitor disposition holders in relation to issued disposition agreements. - Leading recreational access and associated regulatory considerations under the Public Lands Act and related regulations for agricultural leases and Forest Reserve contexts. - Leading the Land Acquisition program and development of associated management plans. Qualifications Required: - A completed masters degree in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences or a related field. - Minimum 4 years of field/outdoor experience in range or environmental regulatory management. - Experience operating ATVs and 4x4 trucks off-road and navigating by aircraft for monitoring or inspection. - Currently registered as a Professional Agrologist or eligible for in-training status (AIT) from the Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA). - A valid Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record. - Intermediate First Aid certification with CPR. - Equivalences may be considered: Bachelors degree in Agriculture or a related field plus 7 years directly related, senior level experience. Assets: - Experience with applicable legislation, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Water Act, Mines and Minerals Act, Public Lands Act and Forests Act) and related administrative procedures for the Rangeland Management, Forest Reserve and Provincial Grazing Reserve programs. - Experience in range management, soil conservation, plant ecology, pasture rejuvenation and related agricultural principles, range resource use, conservation practices, local ranching and farming methodology. - This competition is for 1 full-time permanent position located in Drayton Valley or Rocky Mountain House. #J-18808-Ljbffr
